THE ROBERT PACE PIANO SERIES IS WORLD-RENOWNED for its comprehensive approach to learning the piano. Four books for each level integrate rather than isolate the essentials for developing piano skills, musical understanding, analytic abilities, technique, and creativity. MUSIC FOR PIANO 1:
Begins with diagrams of melodic patterns for either hand. Bass and Treble Clefs, traditional notation, and all major keys are introduced early, with black keys becoming the “braille” for developing good sightreading skills. Major and Minor Triads are introduced and used in I-V-I chord progressions. The main compositional styles from Baroque to Contemporary are presented in combination with Level I pieces in the Recital Series.

CREATIVE MUSIC 1:
Sight-reading, transposition, and creative activities integrated with Music for Piano 1 materials.

THEORY PAPERS 1:
Theory exercises directly related to materials presented in Music for Piano Book 1.

FINGER BUILDERS 1:
Five-finger exercises and tetra-chord scales in all keys are preparation for “thumb-under” scales. Correlates with materials presented in Music for Piano Book 1.

The Main Difference between the "2-Book Series" and the "4-Book Series" is that the 2-Book Series permits teachers to use two books (Music for Keyboard 1A and Creative Keyboard 1A) in the fall, and two new books (Music for Keyboard 1B and Creative keyboard 1B) for the spring (along with appropriate companion materials found in the recital Series, Level 1). The 4-Book Series (also used with companion materials) generally spans the entire teaching season from September to June. Both series present the same basic concepts.

Music for Keyboard Book 1A
Music for Keyboard Book 1A is first of a series of instruction books on learning to play any keyboard instrument - electronic or acoustic. Short compositions, with the necessary technique to play them, are organized to help structure practice sessions. This book is to be used with its companion book, Creative Keyboard Book 1A.
